The 12 days of a Cairn Christmas
On the first day of Christmas…we kicked off our season at the Grosvenor Cafe, Ashton Lane. Dusting off our Christmas folders, we played Christmas hits as revelers enjoyed a mulled wine (or 3)
On the 2nd day of Christmas…we hotfooted it up to Aberdeen to play for a Masquarade Ball at Ardoe House
On the 3rd day of Christmas…we performed for Marko’s Burlesque Circus themed 30th birthday party, amplified as we played all our rock ‘n’ roll hits
On the 4th day of Christmas…Katie, Cat, Fiona and Annemarie played for Judith and Paul’s stunning snowy wedding at Hopetoun House
On the 5th day of Christmas…5 GOLD RINGS (I wish) In fact, we headed over to Edinburgh to Dynamic Earth, to entertain the winners and guests of the Chevron Photography competition
On the 6th day of Christmas…we went all 80s and performed a 20 minute set for a Double Denim party. Hits included Johnny Cash, James Brown and…B*Witched. And yes, we did dress appropriately.
On the 7th day of Christmas…we headed to Skypark to perform for their Christmas market. Highlight has definately got to be the nursery school’s rendition of Jingle Bells
On the 8th day of Christmas…we went into the studio to put down some strings on XFactor’s Gamu new tracks. A foot tapping afternoon.
On the 9th day of Christmas…we played for the Glasgow University Union 12 hour Daft Friday. What an experience that was.
On the 10th day of Christmas…we headed to East Lothian to play for Ruth and Oliver’s wedding at Winton House, an absolutely stunning venue. Katie, Cat, Annemarie and Fiona were joined by singer Sarah Parker, whose beautiful versions of White Christmas and All I Want for Christmas meant there wasn’t a dry eye in the house!
On the 11th day of Christmas…we headed to Stirling to perform in the very beautiful and fantastic acoustics of St. Mary’s Church. Very, very, very excited that the bride had requested the Home Alone theme tune to be arranged!
On the 12th day of Christmas…we had a well deserved holiday! We are really looking forward to what 2012 has in store for us, and already we have a few exciting projects on the go! All will be revealed soon…!
Happy New Year from the Cairn String Quartet
