Kylie and Alan Hutton, Dundas Castle

Tours and tumbles!

All was well as we set off along the M8 towards the beautiful setting of Dundas Castle in South Queensferry, particularly knowing that as the wedding ceremony was being held elsewhere we would not be precariously balanced on the windowsill at the rear of the Auld Keep part of the castle! Our travels were going swimmingly until, engrossed in conversation, we missed the turnoff just before the Forth Road Bridge! We very much enjoyed our very scenic quick succession crossings off the bridge and were soon back on track.

Once we arrived and unpacked the car we made for the castle, but our travelling difficulties were not quite over! To our great amusement a sudden squak from Annemarie was the accompaniment to a spectacular 4 stage fall to the ground, ending up with Annemarie on all fours on top of our stand covers (lucky for her as it saved her tights!). After setting up and a quick rehearsal of the arrangement of the day ‘Just The Way Your Are’ by Bruno Mars, we awaited the arrival of the wedding party and guests. It was a rare opportunity for celebrity spotting as the groom was a famous footballer. Elspeth was quite impressed with herself for spotting Scotland Goalie Alan MacGregor but apart from him our footballer knowledge was not quite up to scratch. Many spectacular outfits and a couple of hours later it was job complete. (Annemarie managed more successfully to get back to the car!).
