Session
The Cairn String Quartet is the UK's best and most experienced Session String ensemble. From their Glasgow base they provide professional session musicians for recordings and live events throughout the UK and Europe, from quartets through to their twelve piece Electric String Orchestra.
Recent events include the 2011 MOBO's, performing with Professor Green and Emeli Sande, the Echo and the Bunnymen Ocean Rain UK Tour, for which they also provided support, and Ian McCulloch solo shows in London and Liverpool. Previous live collaborations have included Admiral Fallow, Camera Obscura, Attic Lights, Tommy Reilly, Roddy Hart, Francis MacDonald (Teenage Fanclub,) Pearl and the Puppets (Radio 1 live session,) Aaron Wright and the Aprils, For Abel, The Bluebells/King Creosote (Homecoming Scotland,) Will Hanson, Roddy Hart and the Lonesome Fire and The Orchids. Equally at home in their wellies as they are in their dresses, festival appearances have included Glastonbury, Benicassim (Spain), V Festival, Hop Farm, Homecoming Scotland, Kendal Calling, and on home turf at T in in the Park, now in their 3rd year.
Making their own mark on tracks and albums currently storming the music scene, their experience at writing their own unique string arrangements can be heard on the highly acclaimed Admiral Fallow's debut album, as well as album appearances with 'XFactors' Gamu and Danyl Johnson, Aaron Wright, For Abel, Laurie Cameron, the Celtic album, Will Hanson and We See Lights to name but a few. They have also recorded string arrangements written for them by Bjorn Yttling (Peter, Bjorn and John) and Patrick Doyle (Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix, Carlito's Way.)
After recent success at the West End Festival, selling out their very own show, and working with producer John McLaughlin on an album of their own arrangements, they look forward to releasing their own work and promoting further events.
